Model United Nations, MUN, is a simulation of real-life proceedings of the United Nations.
Participants get to represent countries from around the globe as their respective delegates
or ambassadors in one of the numerous United Nations or UN affiliated committees. Each
committee at the end of its sessions produces a resolution, a document containing solutions
suggested to the global issues discussed. The resolutions are then read out and discussed
during the General Assembly comprising of all delegations.
MUNs encourage delegates to excel at leadership, teamwork and compromise. Moreover,
each delegate should prepare before the conference by researching their country stance on
the issues presented before the committee, its general policy direction, and a list of
solutions that they would like to put forward. They should also be also to produce a 90
seconds long speech summarizing their policy, their Policy Statement.
